Thur 11.9 (7:30pm)

Performance of Alternative Lectures
Orange County Museum of Art, Newport Beach, California

Inspired by the Alternative Lecture Series started at the SFAI grad studios by Jason Mortara, several Biennial artists will be lecturing on various topics, none of the topics will be about art, artists, or the art world.

Pearl Hsiung- "Cardboard Jigsaw Puzzles and how they can
battle materialism, boredom and isolation."

Andy Alexander- "The Things I Think About"

Goody-B. Wiseman- "On Cultivating an Image No One Understands but You"
an introduction to the alternative lecture library.

Goody-B. Wiseman- "On Financial Optimism Against All Odds"

and a completely misinformed but wonderful write up on the event from Flavorpill:

Performance

when: Thur 11.9 (7:30pm)
where: Orange County Museum of Art (850 San Clemente Dr, Newport Beach, 949.759.1122)

For the OC Biennial, Goody-B. Wiseman plays straight man to her own wickedly funny brand of sincerely sarcastic multimedia art, creating an elaborate anthropological investigation of a tribe of children raised by animals in the California desert. From Badger Buddy to Gazelle Girl, the misadventures in captivity and disastrous attempts to socialize this cache of feral adolescents are described in video documents, naive dioramas, and through faux-artifacts and diaries. Tonight she discusses, and hopefully reenacts, aspects of the project. Be prepared to ride the profound implications of her metaphors all the way to crazy town.
